Snail Mail Collective: July Edition

01 August 2013

Back in June, I received a lovely email from Melyssa at The Nectar Collective about something that she and Chelsea of Lost in Travels had come up with called the Snail Mail Collective. Essentially, they wanted to pair up bloggers around the globe to send each other little bits of snail mail from their respective home towns/countries. Given that I love all things travel, and I really love getting mail (that's half all the fun of online shopping, right?), I was all in.

For the month of July, I was paired with Quinn of Kimchi & Sweet Tea, a lovely lady living in North Carolina. We got to know each other through emails and each other's blogs, and then we were to send each other a little package representing our home towns. Let me tell ya, it was tough picking something out that costs less than $5 and truly represents this city. I knew I wanted to send a food-related item, but Portland gets a bit food-snobbish, and that means things are spendy. But, I was able to find a cost-appropriate bar of chocolate from just the place I had in mind- Moonstruck Chocolates, one of my favorite places in town (too bad I couldn't ship a milkshake- theirs are awesome).

Pink gingham and a yellow note card- so stinking cute! And happy!

When my package arrived over the weekend, I was absolutely delighted. Quinn wrapped the gift so nicely (I hadn't even considered wrapping- but I've been schooled, and I'm taking notes), it was almost a shame to open it. But when I did, I was delighted to find BBQ sauce! Quinn had told me that there were two kinds of BBQ sauce, and I told her I don't really know the difference, so she included one of each for me! On top of that, she also included 3 canning recipes. Seriously- Quinn is a winner. She is such a sweetheart, and I know she's been awful busy lately, so I hope she's taking some time to savor that chocolate that I sent her- she deserves it!

How cute are those recipe cards?

I'm looking forward to doing this link-up again, as it is a great way to meet a new blogger and it is so much fun!

Well friends, have you ever had a pen pal? How do you feel about snail mail? I'd love to hear from you in the comments below!
